What Happens to Your Data When You Delete Your Account?

At WheresNow, we believe you should have complete control over your personal data. If you decide to stop using our app and delete your account, we want to be completely transparent about what happens to your information.

Account deletion is a permanent action, and we want to ensure you understand exactly how it affects your location data, location history, and circle memberships.

Your Account Information is Permanently Erased

When you initiate an account deletion:

• Your profile details, including your name, email address, and phone number, are completely removed from our active databases.
• Your login credentials and authentication tokens are invalidated and destroyed.
• You will be immediately logged out of all devices.

You Are Removed From All Circles

Private circles are the core of WheresNow. Upon account deletion:

• You are instantly removed from all family, friend, and work circles.
• Your live location and device battery status will immediately disappear from the map for all former circle members.
• If you were the Admin or sole creator of a Circle, the circle will either be transferred to another administrator or automatically dissolved, depending on the remaining members.

Location History & Diary Are Purged

Your past movements are strictly your own.

• All points of your 30 to 60-Day Location History are permanently deleted for your account.
• Your automated Location Diary, including any private notes and auto-categorized places you've attached to visits, is completely wiped from our servers.
• Any personal Safe Zones or Geo-Fenced places you've set up specifically for your account will be erased.
• Past Crash Detection or SOS Emergency Alert records tied to your profile are purged.

What Happens to Global Chat Messages?

WheresNow features a Global Chat for circle members.

• For the continuity of conversations for other family members, messages you previously sent in your circles may still be visible in the chat history.
• However, your profile name and avatar will be anonymized, making those past messages no longer attributable directly to an active account.
• Any live location pins you shared in the chat will be deactivated.

Active Subscriptions Must Be Canceled Separately

Deleting your WheresNow account does not automatically cancel your Premium subscription if you purchased it through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

• You must manually cancel your active subscription through your device's subscription settings to avoid future billing.

How to Delete Your Account

You can initiate the account deletion process directly within the WheresNow app in seconds:

1. Open the WheresNow app.
2. Navigate to Settings > Account.
3. Tap on Delete Account.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm your decision and permanently delete your data.

Changed Your Mind?

Because account deletion involves the permanent wiping of your location history, location diary, and cryptographic keys, this action cannot be undone. If you decide to return to WheresNow in the future, you will need to create a brand new account and request new join codes from your family circles.
