Why am I not receiving notifications?

If you're not receiving Place alerts or SOS notifications, it's usually due to device-level notification settings or battery optimization features that suppress alerts.
Check Your Settings
1. Enable Push Notifications
Ensure that WheresNow has permission to send notifications.
- iOS: Settings > Notifications > WheresNow > Allow Notifications. Ensure Alerts (Lock Screen, Notification Center, Banners) are enabled.
- Android: Settings > Apps > WheresNow > Notifications > Show notifications.
2. Disable "Do Not Disturb" or "Focus Mode"
Check if your phone is in a mode that silences incoming alerts. High-priority SOS alerts should ideally bypass these, but it's best to check your system settings.
3. Check Circle Notification Settings
Notification triggers are set per Circle.
- Open the WheresNow app.
- Select the Circle.
- Tap on "Settings" and ensure "Place Alerts" are active for the members you wish to monitor.
4. Background Data Usage
WheresNow needs background data to send and receive alerts.
- Android: Settings > Apps > WheresNow > Mobile data > Allow background data usage.
- iOS: Settings > WheresNow > Background App Refresh (Should be ON).
If notifications still don't arrive, try reinstalling the app to reset all system permissions.
