You Are Always in Control

WheresNow is built around consent and transparency. You decide who can see your location, when it is shared, and how long you want to share it.

No one can access your location without your permission.

Pausing Your Location

You can pause location sharing anytime with a single tap:

  1. Open the WheresNow app.
  2. Tap your profile avatar on the map.
  3. Turn Share Location off.

When location sharing is paused, Circle members can see your last known location along with a Location Paused indicator.

You remain a member of your Circles β€” your location sharing simply stops until you enable it again.

Choosing Who Is in Your Circle

Every Circle you join is created through your choice and approval.

You can:

  • Leave a Circle β€” exit any Circle from Circle Settings when you no longer want to share with its members.
  • Remove a member β€” if you are a Circle admin, remove members through Circle Settings.
  • Delete a Circle β€” permanently remove a Circle you created.

Leaving or deleting a Circle immediately removes your location access from other members in that Circle.

Ghost Mode

Ghost Mode allows you to temporarily stop sharing your location while still remaining connected with your Circle.

To enable Ghost Mode:

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Privacy.
  2. Enable Ghost Mode.
  3. Select your preferred duration.

Ghost Mode is useful for personal time, private activities, or situations where you do not want to share your current location.

Per-Circle Visibility

You can manage location visibility separately for different Circles.

For example, you can continue sharing with your family Circle while pausing location sharing in another Circle.

To manage Circle visibility:

  1. Open Circles from the bottom navigation.
  2. Select the Circle you want to manage.
  3. Change your location sharing visibility for that Circle.

Review Your Sharing Activity

From Settings β†’ Privacy β†’ Sharing History, you can review your location sharing activity.

You can see:

  • Which Circles you are currently sharing with.
  • When location sharing was paused or resumed.
  • Your previous sharing activity.

Tips for Healthy Location Sharing

  • Discuss expectations with your Circle β€” agree when location sharing is useful and when privacy is needed.
  • Use privacy controls when needed β€” manage sharing without leaving important Circles.
  • Review your Circles regularly β€” remove members you no longer want to share information with.
