What Is End-to-End Encryption?

End-to-end encryption means your location data is protected from the moment it leaves your device until it reaches the trusted members of your private Circle.

Your data is encrypted so that only approved Circle members can access it. No one else — including WheresNow — can read your location information while it is being transferred.

How WheresNow Encrypts Your Data

1. Device-Level Encryption

Your GPS coordinates are encrypted on your device before they are transmitted.

WheresNow uses strong encryption standards to help protect your location information and keep your family data secure.

2. Private Circles as Encryption Boundaries

Each private Circle is designed as a separate secure space.

Members of one Circle cannot access location information from another Circle, even if the same person belongs to multiple Circles.

3. Secure Key Exchange

When you invite someone to join your Circle, secure encryption keys are exchanged to establish a protected connection.

WheresNow servers help manage the connection but do not access your private location data.

What WheresNow Can Never See

Your privacy is built into the way location sharing works.

WheresNow does not have access to:

  • Your real-time GPS coordinates
  • Your location history
  • Your private Circle activity
  • Your private messages inside Circles

Data at Rest

Location history stored in your account is protected with encryption while stored.

When history expires or you delete it, the stored data is removed according to your account settings and cannot be recovered.
