Geofencing sounds like a complicated technical term, but in WheresNow, it's one of the simplest and most powerful tools for busy families. We call them Places.

What are Places?

A Place is a virtual boundary you draw around a real-world location like your home, school, or office. When a circle member enters or leaves that boundary, everyone in the circle gets a notification.

Why use Places?

The goal of WheresNow is to reduce the "Where are you?" texts. If you have Places set up, you don't need to ask. You'll know when your spouse leaves work or when your child reaches basketball practice.

How to set up your first Place

  1. Open your circle map and tap the Places icon.
  2. Tap Add New Place.
  3. Search for the address or drop a pin on the map.
  4. Adjust the radius of the circle. We recommend a slightly larger radius (150-200m) for better reliability in areas with tall buildings.
  5. Give it a name like "Home" or "School".

Pro-tips for smart families

  • The Commute Alert: Set up a Place at your workplace. This way, your family knows to expect you soon when you leave, without you having to text while driving.
  • The Safety Net: Create a Place around a high-traffic area or a place your child shouldn't be. It's a subtle way to ensure they are sticking to the agreed routes.
  • Battery Efficiency: Places use geofencing technology which is highly battery efficient compared to continuous real-time tracking.

Start automating your peace of mind today by setting up your first three Places.
